Top Secret Leadership Tip #3 - Reflection

June 6, 2025

Successful Leaders carve out time daily to reflect.

Leaders who don’t reflect, are working blind. They’re reacting to things instead of already being prepared for them, or preparing.

Reflecting allows you to privately examine your daily observations, experiences and decisions more closely.

The conversations encountered throughout the day with team members, peers, customers, clients, etc., are critical to how well your tomorrow, and beyond, will progress.

As you ponder those conversations, observations, experiences and decisions made, you gain new ideas, fully grasp other people’s perspectives, and chart new paths moving forward.

You can sort through things that will help you to solve or avoid problems, eliminate the unnecessary and maintain the necessary.

And the best part about reflection is that you can do it anywhere. You don’t have to be tied to your desk, or your job. You can do it while driving, working out, eating, walking, jogging, or in bed. The places and times are endless. Just bring a pad with you.

So, whether you’re a new, emerging, or seasoned leader, don’t overlook the power of reflection, for confident, and competent leadership develops as you practice this important skill daily.
